Connecting ABAP Systems
The Snow Optimizer supports connecting to ABAP systems ranging from R/3 version 4.6c SP37 up to the latest 7.xx Netweaver release. This includes S/4HANA systems.
To connect ABAP systems, every client on a satellite system needs to have a corresponding RFC destination of type 3 on the Snow Optimizer Master system. The RFC user maintained in the destination needs the satellite roles documented in Authorization Roles.
On the satellite systems no additional software needs to be installed. In the RFC connection scenario, the Snow Optimizer works completely agentless. Only the authorizations documented in Authorization Roles need to be available on the satellite systems. This can be accomplished by using the provided satellite role transports.
Should it not be possible, due to technical or organizational reasons, to connect ABAP systems by RFC, then an option is to use the so-called Offline Tool. The Offline Tool is provided separately for download on the Snow Support web site.
A crucial element of the analysis for ABAP systems is the CCMS statistics data. We recommend using the report SWNC_CONFIG_URL on every connected SAP satellite system. With this report, the parameter HTTP_STATREC_PATH_SPLIT_RULE should be set to the value 2 (Break-Down by URL and page). This makes sure that HTTP accesses are recorded in sufficient detail.
