Features

The following new features are implemented in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software 3.2:

Dashboard​

This release of Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software features a dashboard that enables you to view all licensing-relevant information at a glance. The dashboard can show information like, for example, a countdown for the next SAP audit, the number of systems and users managed in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, or statistical data of your SAP landscape. Even more, the dashboard can show results of reports like the rule set execution as a table or as a simple graph.

There are many ways to customize the dashboard to your individual needs. You can define the number and the content of the dashboard tiles and then assign dashboards to specific users. This way, each user only can show the dashboards that they want and should. The reports shown in the dashboard can be run in the background for up-to-date figures. You can open the dashboard conveniently via a button on the Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software start screen or by executing transaction /DYNAM/DASHBOARD.

Snow Software will continue to develop the dashboard. If you require any additional dashboard features, please contact Snow Support.

License Intelligence templates​

For a more efficient implementation of Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, there are License Intelligence templates for the most common Named User license types. License Intelligence templates are templates of rules, rule sets, and usage profiles for optimizing ECC, S/4HANA, and S/4HANA Cloud systems. For ECC systems, there are templates for the Application and the Business Suite price list. You can adapt License Intelligence rule sets to your specific contractual situation. License Intelligence templates include:

  • 70 Rules

  • 6 Rule sets

  • 39 Single usage profiles

  • 21 Composite usage profiles

  • License Intelligence templates are not delivered with the Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software standard. You can buy these templates for an extra fee.

  • License Intelligence single usage profiles are protected from copying, exporting, or showing details.

Extended Snow Docs integration​

Snow Docs is the application that gathers the documentation of all Snow products in just one place and presents it in an up-to-date style. Since release 3.1, there is already a direct connection from the Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software menu to Snow Docs.

With release 3.2, this connection is significantly expanded: From any Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software report or function, you can directly open the corresponding documentation in Snow Docs with just one click. Getting the documentation you need has never been easier.

In the SAP GUI options, you can define in the security settings that the external links in Snow Docs are opened without confirming a security message each time.

Reporting groups in data source selection​

To make data source selection easier when there are many data sources, there are reporting groups in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software. Reporting groups combine any number of data sources into individually definable groups.

You can create reporting groups in customizing and then assign one or more reporting groups to data sources in the data source management. The same data source can belong to many reporting groups.

Reporting groups are available as a selection criterion in all reports and programs where you can select more than one data source. You can select reporting groups instead of or in combination with direct data source selections.

Assignments in contract management​

If a company has several subsidiaries, it can be difficult in contract management to keep track of which licenses belong to which subsidiary. To identify which subsidiary licenses belong to, there are assignments in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software contract management.

You can create assignments in customizing and select an assignment for a whole contract or single contract items.

In the product tab of a license contract, you can show the assignment of each item that the contract has.

In addition, you can select products and assignments in the compliance report to narrow the results.

Comparison of usage profiles​

This report compares the objects of usage profiles. You can select two usage profiles for comparison. The report result shows a delta list with all objects that only belong to the first and second usage profile.

Graphical representation of compliance analysis results​

As with rule set results, you can show the license counts and costs of compliance analysis results at a glance as simple graphs.

Annotations for change list entries​

When executing change list entries, you can enter an annotation to the entry. This enables you to record why you made a particular change.
