Change lists

Access through: Change lists

The Change lists feature of Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software enables you to record, process, and document planned changes in user master data.

Description

When you request changes to user master data in reports like, for example, User list or Logon evaluation ABAP systems, or in rule set executions, you can record the changes in change lists and process the changes later. You can create change lists manually or have them created automatically when you execute rule sets. Automatically created change lists are identified by the prefix AUTO in the change list name.

In a change list, for each change an entry is created that has the following information:

  • Data source

  • User name

  • User master data field

  • Old field value and new field value

  • Creation date, time, and creator

  • Processing date, time, and processor

  • Annotation

After the changes are recorded in the change list, you can process all or individual change list entries. Icons indicate the processing status of change lists.

caution

Once you have processed changes, they take effect immediately.

tip

To process changes to user master data offline, you can create offline files and use the offline files in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software Offline Tool.

After processing entries, change lists document the complete audit trail of all changes made to user master data. Successfully processed entries, entries processed with errors, and invalidated previously recorded data are shown in separate tabs. You can undo processed changes by creating rollback entries.

To ensure auditing acceptability, you cannot delete a change list if the change list has successfully transferred entries, but you can save the change list in the change list archive. Also, you cannot delete a change list if the change list is part of a rule set result.

In a Supermaster system, you can transfer change list entries to the connected Submaster systems. You can then process the transferred change list entries in the Submaster system. To show the transferred change list entries on the Supermaster system, there is the Transferred change lists log report.

note

You must activate the change list transfer on the Submaster systems in the Submaster configuration setting in Supermaster.
