Job swarms for data loading
Job swarms are used to automate the parallel processing of jobs for data loading. Job swarms are an efficient alternative to manual processing or planning jobs within Load data from ABAP systems.
When job swarms are executed, selected ABAP data sources are divided into individual jobs, one job for each ABAP data source. All jobs can be processed parallel, so the runtime of the entire data loading process can be reduced. This procedure can speed up the data loading process by a factor equal to the available number of batch processes within an SAP system.
Jobs for different clients on the same satellite systems are automatically distributed equally across the job swarm to minimize the total runtime and to avoid peak loads on the satellite systems.
Technical issues with an individual job do not result in a termination of all jobs within a job swarm. In a job swarm, a control job is included in each data loading job and automatically released once the associated data loading job has been successfully completed or aborted. This procedure ensures that all data loading jobs are included in the protocol. The last control job executed in a job swarm takes over the entire logging and triggers a mail protocol that can be sent to selected recipients.
