Inventory data

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data

The Inventory data folder has all functions to load and manage inventory data from Snow License Manager and other inventory software.

note

Before using the inventory data reports, you must create inventory data sources in Inventory data.

Load inventory data from Snow License Manager

Load inventory data from Snow License Manager

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data > Load inventory data from Snow License Manager

The Load inventory data from Snow License Manager report allows you to load inventory data from Snow License Manager.

Description

This report loads data about installed applications via RFC connection from Snow License Manager.

note

Before executing the report, you must maintain the RFC connection to Snow License Manager and define the application data to be loaded in the application allowlist in the Snow License Manager connector setting in Inventory data.

Selection criteria

The selection screen of the report has the following selections:

You can select an SLM inventory data source that you created in the Inventory sources setting in Inventory data. To load all data of applications and users regardless of the entries in the allowlist, select Applications (incl. users).

Option for test run

You can select to run a connection test without saving the data on the SAP database.

You can execute this report in the background.

CSV upload

CSV upload

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data > CSV upload

The CSV upload feature allows you to import inventory data from CSV files into Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software.

  • Before you can import inventory data, you must export the inventory data from inventory software.

  • Because application data and user and assignment data are loaded separately, you must create two separate CSV files.

Upload application data CSV

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data > CSV upload > Inventory data – CSV upload applications

This report uploads application data from a CSV file. The CSV file can have data for the following 13 value types per line, separated by semicolons:

  1. ID

  2. NAME (mandatory key field)

  3. FAMILYID

  4. FAMILYNAME

  5. MANUFACTURERNAME

  6. OS_TYPE

  7. INSTALLATIONS

  8. USERS

  9. METRIC

  10. ISBUNDLE

  11. LICENSEREQUIRED

  12. UPDATEDBY

  13. UPDATEDDATE

Option for test run

You can select to run a test without importing the data.

You can execute this report in the background.

After you executed the report, you have to select a CSV file from the front-end.

Result

The report result shows information about the imported data for each value type.

Upload user and assignment data CSV

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data > CSV upload > Inventory data – CSV upload user & assignment application

This report uploads user and assignment of applications to users data from a CSV file. The CSV file can have data for the following 18 value types per line, separated by semicolons:

  1. ID

  2. NAME (application name / mandatory key field)

  3. ID_USER

  4. USERNAME (mandatory key field)

  5. FULLNAME

  6. FIRST_NAME

  7. LAST_NAME

  8. COMPANY

  9. ORGANIZATION

  10. DEPARTMENT

  11. LASTLOGON

  12. EMAIL

  13. LOCATION

  14. UPDATEDDATE

  15. UPDATEDBY

  16. STATUSCODE

  17. LASTUSEDCOMPID

  18. LASTUSEDCOMPNAME

Data administration inventory data

Data administration inventory data

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data > Data administration inventory data

The Data administration inventory data feature allows you to manage imported inventory data.

Description

A table shows icons for the status of the inventory data for each inventory data source. When you select an icon, a pop-up shows the data source and category, and when and by whom the data was last loaded. There is an option for deleting data. If you select an empty field, a pop-up only shows the data source and category. You can define warning thresholds that specify the time when the data becomes outdated.

Manage warning thresholds

You can specify the number of days from which inventory data is outdated.

  1. Select Settings.png.

  2. Enter the number for the warning threshold.

    note

    If you enter no number, the default value of 31 days is used.

  3. Save.

Delete inventory data

Delete inventory data

Access through: Administration > Data > Inventory data > Delete inventory data

The Delete inventory data report deletes imported data of selected inventory data sources.

Description

This report allows you to delete imported data of inventory systems.

Selection criteria

In addition to the standard selections, the selection screen of the report has the following selections:

You can select an SLM or CSV inventory source that you created in Inventory sources.

Option for test run

You can select to run a test without deleting the data.

You can execute this report in the background.

To delete inventory data, select Yes in the pop-up.

Result

The report result shows information about the number of deleted applications, users, and assignments of applications to users on the selected inventory data sources.
